NEIGHBORS ASSISTING NEIGHBORS.png

Upper Llanos Prescribed Burn Association is a proactive conservation organization of "Neighbors Assisting Neighbors" based in Kimble County, Texas.

ULPBA has over 50 members and associate members, most of whom are actively involved with the organization.  Fire is both a productive and potentially dangerous tool.  Membership guidelines and policy require members to seek training, guidance and actual field experience at prescribed burns, to help make their participation in this practice safe and effective.

The goal of ULPBA is to enhance the productivity of the land and provide more water to the aquifer by reducing runoff, erosion and competition from ashe juniper, while simultaneously reducing wildfire fuels.

A primary objective of ULPBA has also been to educate members and the public about the methods and benefits of prescribed burning when strictly adhering to safe and proven guidelines.

ULPBA does not conduct prescribed burns

for the public or for hire.

Drought, Extreme Temps, High Winds
Texas weather is always a challenge, sometimes varying significantly hour to hour, and rangeland has been greatly impacted by drought, extreme temps and high winds.  Although it's difficult to find conditions that meet burn prescriptions, our members have met the challenge and carried out several successful prescribed burns.
